IMEKOFOODS Award

The Scientific Committee of the 7th IMEKOFOODS International conference has the honor to announce that the first IMEKOFOODS Award will be presented during the conference that will be held in Maisons-Alfort/Paris (France) between 25-27 October 2023. This Award promotes worldwide developments and applications in food metrology and it is awarded for outstanding work and important contributions in the field. 

 

The IMEKOFOODS Award of the 7th IMEKOFOODS International conference will be presented to Dr. Isabel Castanheira from the National Health Institute Dr. Ricardo Jorge (INSA), Lisbon, Portugal, in recognition of her substantial contributions to Food chemistry & metrology all along her professional life. 

The scientific career of Dr. Isabel Castanheira spans over forty years of experience on Food chemistry & food metrology using a wide variety of methodologies and a large panel of applications. For the past twenty years, she was the head of the Laboratory for Reference Materials and during the last four years, she was the Director of Food and Nutrition Department of INSA.

Dr. Isabel Castanheira was also invited Professor at the University of Lisbon and the former Chair of IMEKO Technical Committee for Metrology in Food and Nutrition (TC23). 

Dr. Isabel Castanheira supervised several Ph.D. and master projects focusing on food characterization. She co-authored a large number of scientific publications in various areas, from metrology to food toxicology. She participated to international collaborative studies focusing on certification campaigns of values assigned to certified reference materials. Her activities in research projects considered aspects of the traceability routes to SI units involving intermediate reference points, which are identified and developed through state-of-the-art analytical methodologies.
